Welcome to OOTD with Mother Haggard!
This week, we’re stepping away from the grunge and the monochrome and we’re embracing the sweet, spring sunshine that has finally arrived.
This look is perfect for a casual stroll around the block with your little one.
Combining simple, classic pieces with accessories both funky AND utilitarian, this outfit is a sure winner.
Today’s Look: “Mama Be Strollin'”
Start this OOTD with simple, timeless pieces:
- The classic black yoga pants, the ones you purchased to motivate you to exercise, but instead have been primarily used for coloring pictures of ducks, changing diapers and eating entire bags of those new mint Oreo Thin Bites
- The distressed jean jacket, a spring wardrobe essential
- And of course, the yellow dog sweatshirt, which adds a welcome splash of color
(Pssst: it’s official—dog sweaters are BACK this season! So toss last spring’s horse sweatshirt into the fire and grab that Irish Setter sweatshirt. You can dress it down like we did here, or dress it up with a black leather skirt and silk kimono like I usually do.)
Now, let’s add on our accessories:
-Lightweight AND fashionable, umbrella strollers are perfect for lugging around when your toddler refuses to be buckled in and instead wants to eat a pinecone on the side of the road.
-A diaper bag AND backpack filled with rocks, sticks, dandelions and dead leaves collected by your toddler help to complete the ensemble.
Resist the temptation to go with a single bag. I know it seems like overkill, but trust.
You’ll definitely want two, so you can bring home 4,000 rocks, each one a unique and precious piece to be placed onto your kitchen table.
Spring weather is unpredictable at best, so it’s safe to stick with layers.
Feel a light breeze? Toss that jean jacket on.
Suddenly sweating and keenly aware of your own body odor? No problem. Casually sling that jacket over your shoulder, along with the umbrella stroller you’ve now been carrying for at least two miles.
Umbrella strollers: not just an accessory!
Perfect for kicking back and relaxing as your toddler plays, and also for calling your chiropractor to book an emergency appointment to fix your destroyed lower back from carrying umbrella stroller, 30 pound toddler and six pounds of rocks on your casual stroll around the block.
What are YOU wearing this spring?
Do you love spring fashion as much as I do? What’s your favorite dog breed to sport on a sweatshirt? And where do you display all of the rocks, sticks and dead flowers that your toddler has collected?
