I’m excited to announce a new weekly series on Mother Haggard:
OUTFIT OF THE DAY (OOTD)!
In this series, I’ll share with you some of my current favorite looks, as well as a helpful breakdown of each outfit so you can shop the look for yourself.
A few things to know:
- My style tends to favor simple, elegant pieces with the occasional mix of prints, textures and unexpected accessories to make an outfit really pop.
- I love color, clean lines and feminine touches.
- I’m a firm believer that a good tailor can make a world of difference in even the simplest of outfits.
Now, I’ve probably got about 12 minutes of nap time left, so let’s just jump right in, shall we?
Today’s Look: “Up Since 4 AM”
If replicating this look, keep in mind these key points:
- Big, bold colors mixed with a big, elastic waistband can produce big results.
- A touch of plush helps to soften the rustic vibe.
- Versatility is the name of the game in this OOTD—this outfit should be able to be worn all day, easily transition into evening wear, and then transition into sleeping wear with only a few minor modifications. If you can’t sleep in it, you’ve taken a wrong turn.
If you have any questions about shopping this look, as always, just leave a comment and I’ll be happy to help.
And keep an eye out for my upcoming eBook: One Piece, 20 Ways: Big, Red Sweatpants ($25, summer 2018)!
I’m going to have to invest in an ernie. I have to admit he really completes the ensemble. I shared this on StumbleUpon so more exhausted moms can get this fab look!
Brittany, I can’t stress it enough: if you’re going to invest in one statement piece for your wardrobe, make it be an Ernie. Bert is fine and all, but Ernie is where it’s at. The colors, the juxtaposition of that sophisticated spike of jet-black hair, the general air of MOD: Ernie will get your outfit where you need to go (aka the grocery store). Don’t even waste your time with Cookie Monster (learned that lesson the hard way!).
And thank you for sharing! We’re bringing fashion back to motherhood, one Ern at a time.
Soooo…is it weird that I already rock this look without actually being a mom? Like…including the Ernie? I just turned 40, so I need some validation here. What I’m taking from this post is that I’ve still got it. (???)
Oh, you got it going on, my friend. The Ernie accessory is a little-known secret in the fashion world (I’m sure you’ve already guessed by now that, yes, I am part of the fashion world) but soon he will be going mainstream. So wear that Ernie loud and proud, and then switch to Big Bird when Ernie becomes played (September 2018, I’m predicting. You heard it here first).
